First Aid at Work

The "industrial" first aider qualification. Run over 18 hours this course is accredited by H.S.E. and covers all aspects of first aid in the workplace setting including; definition of first aid, personal safety and assessing the scene, primary survey and summoning help, the causes of unconciousness, secondary survey and the recovery position, principles of resuscitation, C.P.R., burns, bleeding, shock, fractures and joint injuries, contents of the first aid kit, accidents and reporting legislation. Exam on day 3. Valid for 3 Years

Course Duration 18 hours over 3 days including exam

 

Refresher First Aid at Work Course

Two day refresher course for holders of a current first at work certificate.  Exam on day two. Valid for 3 years

Course duration 12 hours over 2 days including exam

 

Emergency First Aid at Work

Subjects covered include; resucitation,first aid for the bleeding or wounded person, medical emergencies, first aid kits and record keeping. Upon successful completion Candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance which is valid for three years.

Course duration: min. 6 hours

 

 

Paediatric First Aid Course (12hrs)

 

A twelve hour course complying with the training objectives as set out by ofsted for paediatric first aid courses in the nursery setting.

Outdoor Leaders First Aid (R.E.C.)

A two day First Aid course fulfilling the requirements of the Mountain Leaders Training Board and AALA. Subjects covered include; resucitation,first aid for the bleeding or wounded person, medical emergencies, first aid kits, dealing with casualties in remote environments and record keeping. Upon succesful completion Candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance which is valid for three years.

Course duration: 16 hours

  

Health and Safety

A one day course introducing the Candidates to health and safety in the workplace. Subjects covered include: general health & safety , a safe and healthy workplace, occupational health, accidents, manual handling, work experience , fire prevention , electricity, first aid. legislation. Upon successful completion Candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance which is valid for three years.

Health and Safety for Managers

This course is aimed specifically at those with line management responsibility, from first line supervisors to executives. It covers the source of health and safety legislation, current health and safety legislation, managers responsibilities, the cost of accidents and how to ensure complience with current legislation. it also covers areas such as duty of care, negligence, civil and criminal law and the differences.

The course will also cover the main pieces of legislation currently in force giving a short overview of each.

Risk Assessment

A three hour general health and safety course covering legislation and how to carry out risk assessments of tasks and procedures in the workplace

1 Hour basic site rules or;

1 day full induction covering all applicable fields of health and safety tailored to your business


Accident Investigation

1/2 day covering requirements of an effective accident investigation. Optional 1/2 day practical module

 

Working at Height

1/2 day covering fall arrest equipment, legislation, heirarcy of protection. Can include use of clients own harnesses

 

Display Screen Equipment

1/2 day covering requirements of DSE assesment, legislation, short practical examining clients current workstations

 

Ladder safety

1/2 day covering use of straight, extending and step ladders pre use inspection and safe use. (can be included within working at heights module)

 

Control of Contractors

1/2 day covering legal position and contractors obligations, HSE good practice

 

Safe Systems of Work

1/2 day covering in detail all the requirements of safe systems of work

 

Safety Work Permit

1/2 day covering health and safety legislation. What a good work permit should contain and how the system should be managed

 

Confined Space Working

1 day. + optional 1/2 day practical module. Covering legislation, the definition of confined spaces. safe systems of work, respiratory protection and breathing apparatus. extrication and optional practical work

 

COSHH

1/2 day Covering legislation on storage and use of hazardous materials. COSHH risk assessments and additional measures such as air sampling, groundwater contamination controls

 

PPE

1/2 day. Covering legislation, the different types of personal protective equipment, benefits and limitations of PPE

 


Respiratory Protective Equipment (BA)

Additional training that builds on the training given in the PPE course specific to the requirements of respiratory protective equipment.

Duration 1/2 day

 

Bloodborne Pathogens

general awareness of the hazards of bloodborne pathogens and how to protect against them, including safe disposal of contaminated materials / disinfection.

 

Duration 1/2 day


Energy Isolation (Lockout/Tagout)

deals with the dangers of working on equipment and how to ensure it is properly and securely isolated, and cannot be accidently energised whilst it is still being worked on.

Duration (1 1/2 hr)


Hearing Conservation

Hearing conservation explains what noise is and how it is measured.  It explains how hearing works and how it can be damaged.  It discusses the hierarchy of controls and how it can be used to reduce noise, finally it discusses how personal protection equipment can be used and its limitations.

Welding Safety

Welding safety is a short awareness course for non welders that explains the hazards associated with welding and how to protect against them e.g. radiation and electricity.  It also discusses other hazards such as airborne particles and noise from grinding etc.

Slips Trips & Falls

Slips, trips and falls explains that this is the cause of most accidents at work, what the major causes are and how to protect against them

Duration 1 1/2 hrs


Metal Working Fluids

Metal working fluids discusses what these fluids are, where and how they are used, what the hazards are and how to protect employees against them

Safety Signs and Signals

Safety signs and signals explains the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regs 1996, what the different classes of signs are and what they mean.  It also explains the other types of signals e.g. audible (fire/emergency alarms) and visual (banksman).

Emergency Preparedness

Emergency preparedness is an awareness course (usually site specific) that details the actions to be taken in the event of an emergency e.g. chemical release/spill or fire.  Who does what and when and where do the majority of people go.

Safety Inspections

Safety Inspections details the various ways of ensuring that what should be done in the workplace is actually being done.  The course explains the differences between inspection, tour and audit and with practical examples within the workplace give attendees the necessay tools to be able to undertake workplace monitoring and inspection.

Duration (1/2 day to 1 day)

 

Food Hygiene (Level Two)

A one day course the Level 2 award Food Safety in Catering is essential for everyone involved in the production and handling of food products and regulated by CI.E.H.. Subjects covered include:food hygiene, food poisoning and microbiology, prevention of contamination, personal hygiene, food pests, cleaning and disinfecting, legislation, premises and equipment design. This is an examined course. Successful Candidates will receive a certificate which is valid for 3 years.
